This is a bit off the beaten path, but I wanted to write down my 2017 goals, and it only felt comfortable in a setting like this.
- Education: I plan to take 2017 to move from slightly-above-beginner in Machine Learning (specifically Deep Learning with Self-Driving Cars) to somewhere around intermediate. For too long I’ve been a consumer of all things AI, but while I’ve read books on the theory, the math (above my head), and the implementation, I’ve never really done anything myself. I’ve started working with Tensorflow and Keras during Udacity’s Self Driving Car Nanodegree, and it’s been a game changer. It’s reinvigorated my interest in AI and I’ve really started to consume more and more. Feel free to check out some of my projects on Github!
- Not-For-Profit: I’m looking to get as involved with NFPs as I possibly can in Chicago and beyond. I’ve got quite a lineup of NFPs I’m interested in, but please reach out to me if you think there’s an opportunity that I could help with!
- Health: 9 months ago, I gave up soda for good. It was not easy. 3 months ago, I gave up meat. It was actually pretty easy. I had never questioned my diet or if I could eat this way, and I’ve now come to find out it wasn’t all that hard to go away from meat. My health has drastically gotten better since then. I plan to continue down this path, and learn more about nutrition and what I’m putting in my body.
- Professional: Launch Credit Card with Avant! Also, along with my first Machine Learning point, I’m hoping to put together some new models for us to use with our credit card data.
